Rihanna lined up to star as the official tourism ambassador for Barbados. As quoted from page Femalefirst, 23-year-old singer has signed a three-year cooperation agreement with Barbados tourism authority.
As we all know Rihanna was born in Saint Michael, Barbados and moved to the United States at the age of 16 years to pursue a career as a singer.
Barbados tourism authority's spokesman, Richard L Sealy revealed, in the eyes of the people of Barbados, Rihanna is a figure of an ordinary girl. However, in international eyes, the singer of 'Umbrella' was very famous.
"She (Rihanna) has become one of the sensations in the world of music and social phenomena. He is the national pride of Barbados and we are delighted with this formal partnership in order to promote Barbados as a leading tourism destination," said Sealy.
Meanwhile, Rihanna is very enthusiastic about his new role. Chris Brown's former lover says, Barbados is a different place than the other islands. One of the reasons he accepted the offer as a tourism ambassador is due to passion and pride as citizens of Barbados.
"I want each and every visitor who comes to this beautiful island experience is different, namely the Barbados community spirit and hospitality," said Rihanna.
As an ambassador for his native country tourism, Rihanna is scheduled to hold a concert in the capital of Barbados, Bridgetown, on August 11, 2011.
